"Caring for the Whole Child"

The Association established a child care day centre in 1973 and operated it until 1982 when it was turned over to privately operated Teddy Bear Daycare, who leases its building from the Community Association. 

Teddy Bear Daycare is a licensed group daycare for daycare or pre-school aged children.  Privately owned and managed, the centre has a staff of 12 and a clientele of 40 children per day. The day care has been caring for children in this community since 1973.

Mission
Teddy Bear Daycare believes in creating an environment rich in activity, nature, stories and music, through which we develop the skills for healthy living, life-long learning, and strong relationships.

Program
The program and schedule create an atmosphere of cooperation and understanding. Staff take time to teach, show, listen and grow, while allowing for individuality, cultural differences and special needs. The program teaches the building blocks of self-discipline while supporting the creation of positive relationships.

Centre
The centre is designed for children to interact with their environment on a physical level, and is full of things that children can do and touch. Children are safe and secure in an environment designed for their size, with quality, age-appropriate play equipment and adequate space for both group and individual activities.

Staff
Teddy Bear Daycare staff are trained Early Childhood Educators with a strong grounding in child development. Staff regularly upgrade, taking classes and workshops to maintain the highest level of education possible to benefit the children in care.

Schedule
Teddy Bear Daycare operates as a full day program five days per week. We are closed on statutory holidays.  We open exactly at 7:30 a.m. and close exactly at 6:00 p.m.

Pre-school children arriving later than 9:30 a.m. miss out on a very rich morning of friends and activities.  Teddy Bear Daycare provides a nutritious mid-morning snack. Lunch is provided by parents.

The school-aged program is open before and after school five days per week, and is open for full days during non-instructional days and school holidays (excluding statutory holidays).  Parents are asked to drop their children by 8:20 a.m. so they can get to school on time. The children will always be at the day care by 4:30 p.m. for pickups.
